 Reliable, solid reel with minor faults,

I bought a Quantum Iron 3 series which was on sale.
After giving the real a thorough evaluation with the recommended #line, throwing medium sized freshwater lures and really testing its limitations with light to medium saltwater fishing, Casting 2-3oz. sinkers with bait for fluke and small bluefish, Landing them was just a pleasure. The quick takedown sideplate is very handy for cleaning. The only gripe i have about this Iron real is the inertia braking technology it uses...plastic inserts which fell out upon a full dissassembly. They proved difficult to replace correctly. I would have liked to see better proven magnetic technology. Otherwise this reel casts like a dream and is as solid as can be expected. |

| I started using the quantum 410 by accident. I was looking through the fishing department at my local K-Mart and found a marked down baitcasting reel that looked and felt great. I took it out for bass that summer and found it handled very well. The cast was smooth, the retrieve was smooth, and working a bucktail all day was fun using this reel. I have caught many bass to 40 lbs lots of weakfish and more bluefish than I wanted with this reel, and I can say that it performed better than expected. After my first day fishing with the 410 my son and my father-in law wanted one. This past christmas there were a few quantum 410's under the tree.. Just a note. I have been fishing for over 40 years, I own my own boat, and have more fishing tackle than I will ever use and I still love my 410. After each use I wash it in a bucket of fresh water, let it dry, and put it in my bag. Over the last 4 years that I have been using it, I have never had a problem.. Good fishing Nick Deuel SI NY |
