The Facts: The Shimano Baitrunner spinning reel features a special lever controlled secondary drag system that acts as a tension controlled free spool. This allows the fish to take out line on the strike and then one a quick turn on the handle engages the main gears for a solid hookset. The Baitrunner also features the Super Stopper II anti-reverse and the Power Roller line roller to reduce line twist. The graphite frame and waterproof drag protects it from the dust, saltwater, etc.

Perfect Spinning Reel, May 23, 2007
reviewer: Scuba from San Clemente California

I own the Baitrunner 4500. It's not too small but not too big and is perfect for the Inshore Halibut fishing I do. Once my Sardine is near the bottom I flip the Baitrunner feature on and wait for the drag to start peeling and once I hear it scream I wait 8 seconds give the handle a turn. . . . . and BAM! ! the hook is set. The Baitrunner feature has an adjustable drag that is very useful in harsher conditions. I would recommend the Shimano Baitrunner to any skill fisherman. I know that I will own this exceptional reel forever.

I personally own three of these babies and am extremely pleased with them. In my opinion they are the benchmark that all baitfeeder type reels aim for.
